Free online tools for Australia
Everyday utilities that run entirely inside your browser: convert and shrink images, turn photos into a PDF, record your screen or voice, make a QR code or a strong password, and generate the tags and files a website needs for search. Nothing you load is uploaded to a server, which is why they work offline once the page has opened.

How do I convert an image to JPG, PNG or WebP?
Choose your images, pick the format you want and download the result. The conversion happens in your browser using a canvas, so the pictures are not uploaded anywhere. JPG suits photos, PNG suits graphics with sharp edges or transparency, and WebP gives smaller files for either, though a few older programs cannot open it.
How do I reduce the file size of an image?
Lower the quality, shrink the dimensions, or switch to a more efficient format. A phone photo of 4 to 5 MB typically falls to under 1 MB at 75 to 80% quality and 2,000 pixels wide, with no visible difference on screen. Choose WebP for the smallest files where it is supported and JPG for the widest compatibility.
How do I resize an image to a specific size?
Choose the image and set the width, or both width and height, in pixels. Setting only the width keeps the shape of the picture because the height is worked out for you; setting both stretches the image if the proportions differ. A percentage option scales everything by the same amount.
How do I convert JPG images to a PDF?
Choose your images in the order you want, pick A4 or the image's own size, and download the PDF. Each image is placed on its own page, centred and scaled to fit with a margin you set. The PDF is built entirely in your browser, so personal documents such as licences, payslips and bank statements are not sent to a server.
How do I convert MP3 to WAV?
Choose the audio file and download the WAV. The browser decodes the MP3 into raw audio, and the tool writes it out as a 16-bit PCM WAV with the same number of channels, at your device's audio sample rate. WAV files are far larger than MP3: a three-minute MP3 of about 3 MB becomes a WAV of about 30 MB.
How do I turn an MP3 into a video?
Choose the audio file, add a cover image and an optional title, pick a shape and press Make video. The tool plays the audio while drawing the picture and sound bars on a canvas and records both together, so the video takes as long as the audio to make. The file is WebM in most browsers and MP4 in browsers that can record it.
How do I record my voice online?
Press Record, allow microphone access when your browser asks, speak, then press Stop. You can play the recording back and download it. The audio is captured by your browser and held in memory, so nothing is uploaded, and the file format depends on the browser: usually WebM or M4A.
How do I record my screen online?
Press Record, choose a screen, window or tab to share, and press Stop when you are done. You can also add your microphone and the tab's sound. The video is made in your browser, so it is not uploaded, and it is saved as WebM or MP4 depending on the browser. Desktop browsers support this; most phones do not.
How do I make a QR code?
Choose what the code should contain (a link, text, Wi-Fi details, an email or a phone number), type it in, and download the code as a PNG or SVG. The code is made in your browser. It contains the data directly, so it keeps working forever, unlike services that point the code at their own server and can switch it off.
How do I create a strong password?
Use at least 14 to 16 characters chosen at random from several types, not a word with numbers added, and use a different one for every account, kept in a password manager. A random 16-character password drawn from letters, digits and symbols has about 104 bits of strength, which is far beyond any guessing attack.
How do I count words in my text?
Paste or type your text into the box and the word count appears instantly, along with characters, sentences and paragraphs. Reading time is words divided by about 238 words a minute for silent reading, and speaking time uses about 150 words a minute. The text is counted in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
How do I make my computer read text aloud?
Paste your text, choose a voice, set the speed and press Speak. Your browser uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, so what you hear depends on the device: Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all include English voices, and many include Australian and New Zealand accents. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I combine PDF files into one?
Add your PDFs, put them in the right order with the arrow buttons and press Merge. The files are copied page by page into a new document in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so confidential documents stay on your device. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Choose the PDF, select 'Extract pages', type the pages you want such as 1-3, 5, 8- and press Split. The pages are copied into a new PDF in your browser. You can also split every N pages or save each page as its own file. The document is not uploaded.
How do I convert a PDF to JPG?
Choose the PDF, set the resolution (150 dots per inch suits screens and 300 suits printing) and download each page as a JPG. The pages are drawn in your browser using an open-source PDF renderer, so the file is not uploaded. A 10-page document makes ten images.
How do I make a PDF smaller?
Choose the PDF, pick the resolution and quality, and download the result. Each page is drawn as a JPEG at lower resolution and put back into a new PDF, so scans and photo PDFs shrink a lot. The trade-off is that text is no longer selectable, and PDFs that are mostly text usually do not get smaller.
What meta tags does a web page need?
Every page needs a unique title (about 50 to 60 characters), a description of about 150 to 160 characters, a viewport tag, and a canonical link where duplicates are possible. Open Graph and Twitter tags control how a link looks when shared. Use no-index only on pages you do not want in search.
How do I add schema markup to a page?
Choose the type, fill in the fields, copy the generated script block and paste it into the page's HTML, in the head or body. Then test it with Google's Rich Results Test. Only mark up information that is visible on the page, because markup that does not match the page can be ignored or penalised.
How do I create a robots.txt file?
Create a plain text file called robots.txt in your site's root folder. Start with User-agent: *, add Disallow lines for the paths you do not want crawled, and add a Sitemap line with the full address of your sitemap. A robots.txt block stops crawling, not indexing, so use a no-index tag to keep a page out of search results.
How do I create a UTM link?
Add the page address, then fill in the source (where the link is placed, such as newsletter), the medium (the type of channel, such as email) and the campaign name. The tool appends utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign to the address. Term and content are optional and help tell ads or links apart.
How do I see how my page will look on Google?
Enter your title, the page address and the meta description. The preview shows what a result looks like on desktop or mobile and marks where the title is cut. Google measures width in pixels, about 600 for titles on desktop, so a title with wide letters can truncate under 60 characters. Treat it as an estimate, because Google also rewrites snippets.
How do I create a 301 redirect in .htaccess?
Add a line such as Redirect 301 /old-page https://www.example.com.au/new-page to the .htaccess file in your site's root. For HTTPS, www and whole-domain moves, rewrite rules with a 301 status are used. Back up the file before you change it, because a mistake can break the whole site.
How do I check the meta tags on a page?
View the page source (right-click and choose View page source, or press Ctrl+U), copy it all, and paste it here. The tool reads the head and body and lists what is present or missing: title, meta description, canonical link, robots, headings, image alt text, Open Graph, Twitter card and JSON-LD. It cannot fetch live addresses because browsers block reading other sites.
How do I convert a HEIC photo to JPG?
Choose the HEIC photos, pick JPG or PNG and a quality, and download each converted file. The conversion runs in your browser using an open-source decoder, so the photos are not uploaded. JPG at 90% quality keeps the photo looking the same while working everywhere, while PNG is lossless but much larger.
How do I convert a PDF to Word?
Choose the PDF and download the Word file. The tool reads the PDF's text layer in your browser, groups the text into lines and paragraphs and saves it as a .docx. It keeps the words and their order, but not the layout, images or tables, and scanned PDFs without a text layer need character recognition first.
How do I scrape a web page without code?
Open the page in your browser, view its source (Ctrl+U), copy it and paste it here. The tool reads the HTML in your browser and lists every link, image, heading and email address, with CSV downloads for the full lists. It does not load the page or run its scripts, so content that JavaScript adds after loading will not appear.
Why these run in your browser
A file converter that uploads your file to a server has to store it, even briefly, and you are trusting its privacy practices. These tools read your file in the page, transform it with the browser's own image, audio and canvas features and hand the result back as a download. The file never leaves your device.
That matters for personal photos, recordings and documents, and it keeps you on the right side of the Privacy Act 1988 when the files contain other people's information. The trade-off is that the browser sets the limits: it can convert common image and audio formats, but not every document type.
