New Zealand calculators
Every tool in this section is built for New Zealand specifically: NZ dollars, Inland Revenue brackets including the ACC levy, gazetted public holidays with their regional anniversary days, and NZ Building Code spacings. Where a figure comes from an authority, that authority is named with the date we last checked it.

View sectionWhere New Zealand tools usually fall short
Two failures show up again and again in the New Zealand calculators already out there. The first is treating the country as one region: a power cost calculator using a single national price per kilowatt hour will be wrong for most of the people using it, because retail electricity pricing here varies by retailer, plan and region. The second is a public holiday list that only covers the national days and quietly ignores the regional anniversary days, which is exactly the case a business-days calculation gets asked about.
So the power tool takes your own price per kilowatt hour rather than pretending a national one exists, and the working day calculator handles regional anniversary days and Mondayisation rather than a flat weekend-only rule.
Income tax here means take-home pay
Most New Zealand tax calculators stop at the income tax owed. That number on its own is not what anyone is actually asking for. What comes out of a pay packet is income tax plus the ACC earners' levy, minus KiwiSaver, minus a student loan deduction if one applies.
The income tax tool in this section returns all of it together, because "how much do I actually get" is the question behind almost every search that lands on one of these pages.
