Merge PDF Files
Applications and reports often need several PDFs combined into one. This tool joins them in the order you choose, in your browser, so contracts, statements and IDs are never sent to a server. Built for Australian users, with nothing sent to a server.

How do I combine PDF files into one?
Add your PDFs, put them in the right order with the arrow buttons and press Merge. The files are copied page by page into a new document in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so confidential documents stay on your device. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
When merging is useful
Job and visa applications, loan documents, invoices with supporting receipts and reports assembled from several sources all ask for a single file. A single PDF is easier to attach, harder to lose pages from and simpler to print.
If an upload form has a size limit, merge first and then use the compress PDF tool.
Protected and signed PDFs
PDFs that need a password to open cannot be merged here, because the browser cannot read their pages. Remove the password in the program that created them. A digitally signed PDF loses its signature when it is merged, since the signature covers the original file, so merge before signing.
To turn photos into a PDF first, use the JPG to PDF tool.
How this is calculated
The rule, step by step, so you can check any figure by hand.
each file is opened and its pages are copied, in order, into a new documentthe order of files is the order of the list; use the arrows to change itthe merged document is saved and offered as a downloadnothing leaves the browser
A PDF is a structured file of pages, fonts and images. Merging copies each page, with its fonts and images, into a new file, so the result looks identical to the originals. Because fonts and images are copied rather than rebuilt, the merged file is about the sum of the sizes of the originals.
Some features do not survive a merge: form fields can behave differently, bookmarks from the original files are not carried over, and digital signatures are broken by changing the document.
A worked example
A cover letter of 1 page, a CV of 2 pages and a certificate of 1 page.
- Files3, in the order you set
- Pages4
- Resulta single merged.pdf
One four-page PDF ready to attach.
Check the order before merging.
Privacy
Merging runs in your browser using an open-source PDF library that loads with this page. The files never leave your device, which suits sensitive material under the Privacy Act 1988.
What it leaves out
No page reordering within a file, no rotation and no bookmarks. To pick certain pages first, use the split PDF tool.
What this calculator does not do
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged
- Signatures and bookmarks do not carry over
- Large files depend on device memory
- No reordering of pages within a file
Common questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. They are merged in your browser.
Can I change the order?
Yes. Use the up and down arrows before merging.
Is there a page or size limit?
No fixed limit, but very large files may be slow on older devices.
Why did the merge fail?
Usually because a file is password-protected or damaged.
Will the quality change?
No. Pages are copied as they are.
