Schema Markup Generator (JSON-LD)

Structured data tells search engines exactly what a page is about: a business with an address and phone number, a list of questions and answers, an article or a product with a price. This generator writes the JSON-LD for you from plain fields. Built for Australian users, with nothing sent to a server.

How do I add schema markup to a page?

Choose the type, fill in the fields, copy the generated script block and paste it into the page's HTML, in the head or body. Then test it with Google's Rich Results Test. Only mark up information that is visible on the page, because markup that does not match the page can be ignored or penalised.

    Which type to use

The local business type fits a shop, tradie or clinic with a physical location or service area. Organization fits a company without a customer-facing address. FAQPage describes a page of questions and answers. Article suits a news story or blog post, and Product a single item with an offer.

A page can carry more than one type, for example Organization on the home page and FAQPage on a service page.

    Keep it truthful

Markup must match what visitors can see on the page. Fake reviews, hidden FAQs and wrong prices are against Google's guidelines and can lead to a manual action. Only add AggregateRating if you display real, first-party reviews, which this tool does not generate.

To check titles and descriptions, use the meta tag generator.

    How this is calculated

The rule, step by step, so you can check any figure by hand.

    • the fields you fill in become properties of a schema.org type
    • empty fields are left out so the markup stays valid
    • the object is written as JSON-LD inside a script tag
    • angle brackets are escaped so the markup cannot break the page

JSON-LD is the format Google recommends for structured data because it sits in one block, separate from the visible HTML. Each schema.org type has required and recommended properties, and rich results appear only when the page also meets Google's content guidelines. Valid markup is a necessary step, not a guarantee.

FAQ rich results are limited in Google's results now, so use FAQPage markup because it describes the content accurately, not because of a promised display.

    A worked example

A local business with a name, phone number and address.

    1. TypeLocal business
    2. Propertiesname, url, telephone, address, sameAs
    3. Outputa script block of about 15 lines

    Valid JSON-LD ready to paste.

Test it in Google's Rich Results Test.

    For Australian businesses

Use the Australia address format and add your state or region and postcode. Add a Google Business Profile link under 'Other profiles' if you have one.

    What it leaves out

Opening hours, reviews, breadcrumb and video markup are not included, and neither is validation against Google's required properties. Always test the result.

What this calculator does not do

    • Five common types only
    • Does not validate against Google's requirements
    • No reviews or opening hours
    • One block at a time
